A synopsis of Nicky Silver's "Free Will and Wanton Lust", a play that everybody but me seems to have liked. Must be an American thing <g>.
Notes: The lead character is named Claire, but since her name is never mentioned in the play, I'll just call her Mother. Vivian has to be packed into two syllables, but I'm sure you can do it if you apply yourself.

Tried and Found Wanton

TTTO: 'Eleanor Rigby', The Beatles

Mother and Tony
Airing their childishly shallow affair on the stage
Acting their age?

Mother and Amy
Trading indifference and angst in a one-sided spat
So much for that

All the painful people
Why did they ever start?
All the painful people
Why did he write their parts?

Philip and Vivian
As much in love as a couple of loonies can be
As we can see..

Tony and Vivian
Getting it on - a predictable twist to the plot
(Whyever not?)

All the painful people
Each with their lines to spout
All the painful people
What is this all about?

[Spoken: Find out in the next exciting act!]
[alternate: 'Two and a half hours']

Mother and Philip
Spilling out tortured cliches from the depths of despair
Why do we care?

Philip and Amy
Finding dysfunctional solace in each others arms
It has its charms
[Spoken: I'm using sarcasm to make a point here]

All the painful people
They must be round the bend
All the painful people
When is this going to end?!
